Advertiser Disclosure

Here are some of the best deals and finds from the past two weeks. I hope you enjoy this post and feel free to share it with anyone who might also find it useful :)

πŸ›« Travel, Points & Miles

πŸ’³ 5 Free Nights: Limited-Time Marriott Card Offer

Now might be the best time to apply for this Marriott card because you can earn 5 Free Night Awards (each night valued up to 50k points) after you spend $5,000 in your first 3 months. If you value Marriott points at ~0.7¢ that means this could be worth $1750, which is pretty amazing. Just be mindful that certificates expire after one year, so you'll want to make sure you have a trip you can use it on in the next 12 months.

πŸ›« Saving Money on Flights

Last week I released episode #156 with Zach Resnick (Founder of FlyFlat) and we covered 10+ different ways to save money any time you're booking flights. I definitely recommend you check it out if you have any expensive travel coming up to make sure you're getting the best deals on airfare.

🏨 Hyatt Promo: 3,000 points every 3 nights

I wouldn't go out of my way to take advantage of the Spring promo from Hyatt, but if you already have some stays planned, I'd certainly make sure to register by April 15th to earn 3,000 bonus points for every 3 nights you stay at a Hyatt property.

πŸ’Ί Discounted Business Class on KrisFlyer

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer recently published its latest Spontaneous Escapes promotion with amazing savings on award flights in economy, premium economy, and business class. Here are some of the best offers for business and premium economy flights to and from the US:

  • New York to Frankfurt - 56,700 miles in business class
  • Frankfurt to New York - 36,400 miles in premium economy
  • San Francisco to Singapore - 52,500 miles in premium economy
  • Singapore to Newark - 56,350 miles in premium economy

The offers are valid for bookings through Feb 29th and travel between March 1st and April 30th which has a two month window. Since Singapore KrisFlyer is transfer partners with Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou, there are many ways to get points for these flights.

πŸ’Έ Amex Card Offers

Unfortunately I didn't see any offers worth sharing this week from other card issuers:

$200 off $1,000 at Hilton

Earn a $200 statement credit if you spend over $1,000 at select Hilton properties using your enrolled eligible Amex Card through May 15th.

$100 off $500 at Vail Resorts

Earn a $100 statement credit if you spend over $500 on lodging or life tickets at Vail Resorts through 3/5. This is a great deal if you're planning a ski trip in the next few months and can buy tickets in advance. Because I used the CardPointers app, I have this offer on 4 different cards, so it could be worth even more than $100.

πŸ•΅οΈ Great Finds

🏦 How To Pay Taxes with a Credit Card

If you're working on a welcome offer or just trying to increase your points balance for less than 1¢/pt (at least with a 2x points card), then paying taxes on a credit card might make sense. This article from Frequent Miler explains everything you need to know on the topic.

πŸ’΅ Morgan Housel on Spending Money

Morgan Housel has a remarkable ability to unravel the complexities of the of money, in fact, my conversation with him (Ep #128) was so great I released it a 2nd time last year. So when I saw his latest blog post last month about spending money, I assumed it'd be great (and it was).

πŸ‡¨πŸ‡· Adventure, Rainforests and Relaxation in Costa Rica

If you've been thinking about a trip to Costa Rica or want to know more about the amazing experiences the country has to offer, you have to listen to my conversation with with Costa Rica expert Javier Echecopar (episode #157). He shared all his insider tips on the ideal times to visit, where to go/stay, what to do and so much more!

🌐 Secret Life of 500+ Cables That Run the Internet

Did you know that undersea cables send up to 250 terabits of data per second, but that their history dates back to the 1800s? I really enjoyed learning all about subsea communications in this article from CNET.
